Industrial application components are quite critical to the overall productivity.

Why is The Teflon Gasket Preferred for Industrial Applications

Teflon gaskets for one of the highly preferred components across multiple industries because of the benefits that they bring on the table. Teflon gaskets or polytetrafluoroethylene gaskets have many chemical and physical properties that make them unique.

One feature is resistance to hike or version and a really low friction base that makes them durable for many users. Then comes the feature of melting at high temperatures and high resilience that makes them highly suitable for many purposes.

While you have an option to use standard gaskets for normal performance, Teflon gaskets have this non-metallic feature that enhances the application for that specific requirement. Also, you get a longer life of the product even after continuous application. The maintenance cost of the Teflon gasket is also very low.

5 Industry Uses of Teflon gaskets

Below are the five industry uses of Teflon gaskets.

  • Medical

The medical industry uses PTFE in many components. Components such as catheters, implantables etc. use the smaller size of PTFE sealants that can Take surface wear and tear. This feature is highly useful in manufacturing of medicines among pharma companies. The high temperature melting point of PTFE makes it a perfect fit for these special purposes. Also, if you use PTFE as sealants, it can also prevent contamination of drugs and other mishappenings during production.

  • Electrical

Components such as electric motors, transformers, etc. use PTFE sealants because of the chemical and physical characteristics. Also, the high corrosion resistance makes sure that it is the best ceiling material in electronic components.

  • Compressors

Since PTFE has High temperature resistance, it can be used in compressors. Most compressor manufacturers have PTFE as one of the main ingredients.

  • Petrochemicals

Teflon gaskets can be used for petrochemicals because of their chemical properties. They are highly resistant to extreme temperatures and corrosive fluids that make them a perfect fit for this industry. PTFE having certain fluorine compounds and alkali metals, can resist pressures and temperatures from most chemicals and surroundings. When it comes in contact with hydraulic fluids, PTFE can still perform well.

  • Food products

Since it is used in medical products, it has the FDA and AMS standards that are used in the food industry as well. Teflon has a very strong atomic structure. It has a large chain of carbon atoms which are further connected to 2 fluorine atoms. It doesn’t bond with any other material that makes it suitable for the food industry as well. Again, chemical and temperature resistance properties are also suitable for food products as a sealant material.

These five industries have used PTFE or Teflon gaskets to a huge extent. So ideal for all these industries and the flexibility makes them highly wanted material by most of the producers.
