A dehumidifier is a household device that reduces humidity. Because humid air causes many health problems, dehumidifiers are used.
The normal humidity should be 30 - 50%. Dehumidifiers are used in industry to maintain a certain level of humidity.
The most common type of dehumidifier is the cooling or mechanical dehumidifier. In the former dehumidifier, the moisture is removed by a cooling coil with a small fan. The mechanism of this dehumidifier is that as the temperature drops, so does the vapor pressure, which leads to the condensation of water in the air. The cooled coil is then used to heat the air, which is effective in areas of higher temperatures.
In regions with low temperature and low humidity, a special air dehumidifier is used, namely a "desiccant air dehumidifier", in which there is a desiccant to reduce the air humidity and which has a high affinity for water vapor. This desiccant is exposed to a high humidity air flow to collect water vapor, which in turn is exposed to a low humidity air flow which also collects the moisture that has been retained. The stream used in the former is dehumidified and the latter stream is used to regenerate the desiccant. These dehumidifiers use thermal energy to create the dehumidification effect. There are two types of desiccants, namely absorbents and adsorbents. In the former there is a chemical change when they hold back water vapor. Adsorbents attract larger water molecules through the air pores in them and there is no chemical change. The most commonly used adsorption material is silica gel. This material can be reactivated by heat at a temperature of 160 - 170 oC and the required heat is 4800 KJ / kg water.
The very small "electronic air dehumidifier" consists of inexpensive parts. There is a heat pump to create a cold environment and no noise is made as there are no mechanical parts. Spray dehumidifier is used when the water temperature is below the dew point of the airflow. This spray dehumidifier is similar to an air washer. When the humidity is saturated, the air is dehumidified when water is sprayed on the surface.
An example of a cooling dehumidifier is the "air conditioning system". They create a cool surface. There is a cooling coil and a fan that removes moisture. These thermally activated technologies use thermal energy to heat or cool the chill dehumidifier. The energy from the heat source can be in the form of heat. The thermally activated technology in the dehumidifier is also used as a natural gas burner.
Small Dehumidifiers are used in a wide variety of applications. It is used as an absorption dehumidifier in the food and beverage industry. This dehumidifier prevents the product from coagulating, corroding, breaking and also preventing bacteria from growing. In the baking industry, these dehumidifiers are coated to control the air humidity, the product is cooled for frost-free cooling and when the product is stored, the dehumidifier prevents the growth of bacteria.
When a coating is applied to grain, the agglomeration is eliminated. In the confectionery industry, a dehumidifier is used while panning is performed to improve the quality of the product. The sanitary facilities are improved when packing the sweets.
In the biotechnological laboratory, dehumidifiers are used for sterile air in the room. In waterworks, these are used to prevent condensation using a pipe gallery. These pipe galleries are protected from rust and damage and the life of painted pipes is also extended. The benefits of using dehumidifiers are to remove moisture as moist air causes many health problems such as allergies, breathing problems, immune system damage, and asthma. If too much moisture is detected, mold and dust mites will form. Using a dehumidifier is therefore very beneficial for people who live in humid areas.
