Miriam Emmanuel

I have completed my second year of a joint JD/MPH degree at Georgetown University and Johns Hopkins University. I believe my background makes me an ideal candidate as an expert on writing academic papers and reports.

I majored in History and Sociology of Science as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania because of my interest in medicine and health care policy. As a JD/MPH student, I have continued to study the subtle social relationships between law, economics, society, and health. Although I have not yet completed my epidemiology coursework, I have already become familiar with STATA.

My background has demonstrated my history of excellent research, writing, and editing skills. During my first semester in law school, I received the highest grade in my legal research and writing class. As a second-year law student, I also worked as a research assistant for the O’Neill Institute for Global Health Law, where I assisted professors in a variety of different research tasks with minimal supervision. I drafted analytical literature reviews and collected relevant documents from legal research databases. I also proofread and edited their working papers. Finally, I became experienced in compiling bibliographies. In addition to becoming familiar with substantive health law and policy issues, these experiences enabled me to develop required strong organizational skills, familiarity with a number of different research methods, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
